With Robert, I have had the best 5 years of my life. He was my
life, my husband, lover, soul mate, best friend and made me the happiest
woman in the world. He had a love and enthusiasm for life and his work that
was impossible to match. I loved him with an intensity I had never before
believed possible and miss him by the same degree. No words can describe
what we all have lost in his premature death, or the pain I feel in trying
to face a future without him. Thank you to everyone who has sent messages on
this site and those who sent condolences in a variety of other ways, and for
the love and support shown to me before, during and after the funeral.
He was loved and well liked by so many and will never be forgotten, his
legacy lives on in the work he did and in the hearts of us all. For Robert,
all my love, always, Dilys xxxx

I cannot find words to express my sadness at the passing of my
dear friend Bob. He has been my trusted companion for many years and without
him Mountain Medicine would not have the reputation which we enjoy. Bob has
served as Depute Dir. of Training for many years and the wise counsel which
he shared, without hesitation, was invaluable to me. Most of all we had
great fun when we were teaching together and on our many "adventures". Only
recently, I had the honour of being his best man and I am distraught that he
has not had longer with his wife, Dilys. Rest easy my friend - you will not
be forgotten.

Thursday May 7th 2009 would have been Rob's 54th birthday, and it
is so sad that he won't be with us all to celebrate it. As his youngest
sister, I have many fond memories of birthdays we have shared together. I
know that all his family will be thinking of him especially on this day and
sending him so much love and thoughts. Happy Birthday Robert, wherever your
spirit may be. Jan xxxx

The professionalism and enthusiasm that my father showed towards
his work has been constant source of pride for me over the years. He had a
rare gift for teaching and inspiring his students. He'll be sorely missed.
Thank you for your kind messages and thanks to Paul Allan for being a great
friend and for producing this wonderful memorial.

My big brother loved his work and took great pride in the job he
did. He became at home in the Highlands and made lots of friends there,
because he was a good man.
I love him very much and will miss him more than words can say.

It is with a great sense of loss and sadness that i write this,
Bob was truly a giant among trainers and will be sorely missed.
I remember fondly the Meals, jokes and Drinks we Shared together a few years ago,
while instructing in Devon. He had a fab sense of humour and a tremendous wit.
Please accept my condolences

I'm sorry it's taken me this long to put this in to words.
Bob dragged me kicking and screaming out of the big black hole of
depression, and taught me to laugh again.( he could do that ) Thank's Bob.

I took my first aid training with serious doubt to my capabities
and competence with Bob. He gave me the confidence to believe that I could
save a life. He gave his life to his job. So many of us will remember his
words and training to save lives. He became our friends in training. He will
be very sorely missed, but in his training AND saving lives, his work will
ALWAYS be remembered. He will continue to save lives. Keep watch over us,
you will never be forgotten, my thanks and many others, Jim

We have just run the first series of FAAW refresher courses in
Devon since Bob passed away. The reaction of the students on these courses
was always the same - dismay and disbelief. Some of these students would
have had Bob as their tutor three or four times since he first started
working down here in the early 1990's. So I am posting this note on behalf
of both Devon Discovery Instuctors and many of our regular students; it's
not the same without you Bob!

Well I don't know what I can say that hasn't already been said. I
was working with Bob exactly 1 week before his passing, so I just couldn't
take in the news when Dilys phoned.
I was fortunate enough to be a part of their lovely Wedding day only a very
short time ago and they were so happy together. So sad that this happiness
couldn't have lasted many years longer.
I am absolutely devastated that I couldn't attend the funeral as I was on my
way home from Paris, but my thoughts were very much with you all.
Take care and remember the good times.
(Sorry Bob you never got your run in the Rolls)

Dear Bob, all through our married years we wrote long letters to each other
so it seemed appropriate to write one you final letter. You were an
inspiration to Victoria and Andrew and you can be proud of their
achievements. I know you will be watching over them from wherever you are.
You're a big miss in their lives, I will miss you but I will always see a bit
of you everyday when I look at our children. I am so pleased you found
Dilys, she is a lovely generous lady who loved you so much and showed such
kindness to myself and the children during these difficult times, it is so
sad you had to leave so soon. all my love.

My uncle inspired many people including myself. But for him, I
wouldn't be where I am today. I know he continues to live on in all of us.

It was with great sadness I heard the news about Bob's passing.

I, as everyone at Haven Banks, that Bob has trained and inspired over the
years were left deeply saddened and shocked at the news.

I was lucky enough to meet Bob some 12+ years ago when I was introduced to
Mountain Medicine. Then training as an instructor to provide courses for
Mountain Medicine, Bob was the mentor I needed to inspire, encourage and
give me the confidence.

I am sure everyone who has had the privilege of being in Bobs company is
aware of what a funny man he was, his humour and wit, usually at Paul's
expense, were second to none. His humorous side was matched with the compassion,
care and support he showed all people in his company. If you needed a quiet
supportive chat Bob was always there to listen and give advice.

I know the staff and trainees at Haven Banks won't be the only ones to miss
him. He has spent many years with Paul and loosing such a close and loyal
friend as Bob can't be easy.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Dilys and his family, his friends, none
more so than Paul and anyone else who had the fortune to meet Bob

I was very shocked and saddened to hear of Bob Law s premature
sudden death on 18th September 2008. I got to know him very well at a
Mountain Medicine/HSE review course earlier this year on Dartmoor. His
teaching was concise, enthusiastic and well received. Socially he was great
fun and we had a hilarious week as I tried out my faltering culinary skills.
The best assessment I got from Bob was 7/10. His wedding took place on a
beautiful June day at Strathpeffer in the Scottish Highlands and he seemed
set fair for a new chapter in his life with Dilys, who had been the main
focus of his life for the last 5 years. Sadly it was only to last 3 months.
My last contact with him was a meal we enjoyed at the Garlogie Inn in
Aberdeenshire 10 days before he died.
I shall miss him and remember him with affection.

I have only known Bob for a few years and he become a great friend
and supportive colleague. I was so sad to hear of his passing. In his
memory I carried a rock to the top of Braeriach in the Caringorms last
Friday and it will stay there, high on the mountain, where he is now.

- Jim Morning - M/Med instructor -

It was while attending a First Aid Course delivered by Bob in 1996
that I was inspired to become an instructor with Mountain Medicine as it was
the best course I'd ever attended. Bob took me under his wing and became my
instructor, mentor and dear friend over the past 12 years. We had some
brilliant laughs together and he was always there for me to ask advice or to
moan about something, which I frequently did! Nothing was too much for Bob -
he would go out of his way to help others. You will be sorely missed Bob by
all who knew you and you will never be forgotten by us.

- CAT - M/Med Instructor -

I am very saddened to hear the news, He was a good man and will be missed.
Please accept my condolences.

I first met Bob when he delivered our first aid training at Sabhal
Mòr Ostaig - he made a vital learning experience a most enjoyable
experience. Now I'm with Fèisean nan Gàidheal, Bob was our first choice for
First Aid Training, and we were delighted to see himself and Dilys in March.
It's hard to believe he's gone - a man whose expertise and advice saved
lives and eased the suffering of others. We'll miss you, Bob.

- Iona MacDonald, Training Officer, Feisean nan Gaidheal -

Was saddened to hear of the passing of Bob. He was a brilliant
instructor. My thoughts go out to his wife and family. Gob bless and rest

What a sad loss to us fire fighters in the highlands. Bob's
courses were always the best. He had a way of teaching us that was
informative and fun. So long Bob, rest in peace.
